TEHRAN, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Hengam Island, which is located about 2 km south of the much larger Qeshm Island in southern Iran's Hormozgan Province, was hit by U.S. projectiles on Wednesday evening, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported.
According to Mehr, an explosion was also heard on Qeshm Island, yet initial investigations showed that no projectile struck the island. ■
