SEOUL, July 13 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's Everland announced Monday that it will launch a public naming campaign for the newborn giant panda cub.
The naming campaign will run from July 13 to 19 through Everland's official website and social media platforms, including YouTube and Instagram. The park said the final naming method and the date of the official announcement will be released at a later time.
The names of Everland's previous three panda cubs were all selected through public naming campaigns.
Ai Bao, a female giant panda on loan from China, gave birth to a female cub on June 3. The newborn weighed 171 grams at birth.
Ai Bao and Le Bao arrived in South Korea in 2016 and have since lived at the Panda World in Everland, located in Gyeonggi Province. The Chinese giant pandas have won widespread affection among the South Korean public and have become beloved ambassadors of friendship, promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and South Korea. ■
