ISLAMABAD, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Two police personnel were killed and two others injured in an attack on a police vehicle in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local police said on Monday.
The explosion occurred in the Tank area while the police vehicle was on routine patrol, according to District Police Officer Abdul Samad.
The injured policemen were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the blast was triggered by a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Device, the official said.
Security forces cordoned off the area, placed the district on high alert, and launched a search operation to apprehend those responsible.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. ■
