TASHKENT, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) has kicked off in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
It is reported that this is the first time the event is being held in Central Asia.
The Olympiad, which began on Friday and will run until July 19, has brought together around 1,000 students, team leaders, observers from over 90 countries. Each national team is represented by four contestants and two mentors.
The IChO has been held annually since 1968. At the 57th IChO held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates in 2025, the Chinese team won four gold medals. ■
