MOSCOW, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Russian authorities are doing everything possible to strengthen the protection of oil refineries, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Friday.
Novak said Russia is experiencing fuel shortages because operations at some oil refineries have been partially disrupted by Ukrainian drone strikes.
Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia have intensified in recent days, with energy infrastructure, particularly oil refineries, among the primary targets. On Monday, Ukrainian drones struck Russia's largest oil refinery in Omsk.
In response, the Russian government on Wednesday issued a resolution extending a temporary ban on exports of diesel fuel, marine fuel and gas oils through July 31, which now includes petroleum product producers. The measure is intended to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market.
Novak added that the authorities would ensure additional fuel supplies for the regions. ■
