MEXICO CITY, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Friday urged the U.S. government and its security agencies not to act unilaterally on Mexican territory, saying such actions are seen as "interference" and can fuel violence.
During her daily press conference, Sheinbaum said unilateral intervention, such as the transfer of Mexican drug lord Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada to the United States in July 2024, caused internal divisions within the Sinaloa Cartel and increased violence in Mexico.
She stressed the importance of coordinating efforts, respecting the sovereignty of both countries and avoiding agreements with criminal groups.
"It is better to coordinate; it is better to collaborate, because results are always better when we work together than when actions are taken unilaterally," Sheinbaum said, rejecting any pact with criminal groups to fight others. ■
