ISLAMABAD, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's central bank on Monday launched a digital investment platform aimed at widening public participation in government securities by allowing individual and corporate investors to invest through an online portal and mobile application.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) formally introduced InvestPak, a web portal and mobile application ecosystem designed to digitize the investment process for Government of Pakistan securities.
On the occasion, Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said InvestPak would provide citizens, businesses and institutions with direct digital access to government-backed investment opportunities, while a broader investor base would allow banks to increase lending to the private sector.
According to the SBP, the platform is expected to benefit individual investors, small savers, corporates, and other market participants by reducing paperwork, improving transparency, and enabling investment in government securities from homes and offices.
The platform also enables users to manage multiple Pakistani rupee and Investor Portfolio Securities accounts across participating financial institutions through a single interface, providing greater convenience and portfolio visibility. ■
