VIENTIANE, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Lao leaders met in the Lao capital Vientiane for the fifth National Conference on Inspection Work to review the past five years and set 2026-2030 priorities, focusing on strengthening oversight and improving anti-corruption efforts for sustainable development.
The two-day conference, taking place from Wednesday to Thursday, was presided over by Politburo member and Standing Member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Secretariat, Vilay Lakhamfong, according to Lao National TV on Thursday.
In his opening remarks, Vilay said delegates would assess achievements, shortcomings and challenges in inspection work during 2021-2025, draw lessons from implementation, and define priorities for the next five years.
He said the 2026-2030 agenda would focus on strengthening Party and State inspection systems while intensifying efforts to prevent and combat corruption, bureaucracy, misconduct and wastefulness, in line with the resolution of the 12th Party Congress.
During the conference, delegates shared experiences and lessons learned in leadership, supervision and inspection across various sectors. ■
