SAN FRANCISCO, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. government has lifted its export restrictions on Anthropic's powerful AI models, the artificial intelligence (AI) safety and research company said late Tuesday.
In a post on social platform X, the San Francisco-headquartered company said it received notice that the U.S. Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on its Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
"We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon," it added.
On June 12, the U.S. administration issued an export control directive suspending all access to the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models by any foreign national.
Anthropic responded that as the directive covered any foreign national -- whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees -- the company would have to abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all its customers to ensure compliance with the order based on national security concerns. ■
