GAZA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The Government Media Office in Gaza warned Thursday that the Gaza Strip is facing a worsening humanitarian situation due to continued Israeli restrictions on the entry of basic necessities and the disruption of infrastructure.

In a press statement, the office said that the Israeli restrictions threaten extremely serious health, environmental, and humanitarian consequences affecting more than 2.4 million Palestinians.

The office added that restrictions on the movement of goods and crossings continue to prevent the entry of sufficient quantities of humanitarian aid and basic supplies.

More than 1 million displaced people are living in hundreds of makeshift camps established following the large-scale displacements. These camps lack the infrastructure necessary for a dignified life, including proper sanitation networks, according to the statement.

The statement called on mediators and sponsors of the ceasefire agreement to intensify their efforts to ensure the implementation of humanitarian obligations, thereby alleviating civilian suffering and preventing further deterioration of health, environmental, and living conditions.

Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories on June 16 said in a social media post that since the start of the ceasefire, a diverse range of humanitarian aid has entered Gaza, including food, water, medical supplies, shelter equipment, hygiene products, fuel and gas.

Separately, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem on Thursday said in a press statement that holding "Israeli security meetings to discuss the future of Gaza residents and to reintroduce projects related to their displacement or the reshaping of the demographic reality in the enclave represents an extremely dangerous development."

The ceasefire agreement, which took effect in October 2025, included an exchange of prisoners and detainees, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from some areas during its first phase.

The United States announced in mid-January the start of the second phase of its proposed peace plan, which includes a full Israeli withdrawal, the disarmament of Hamas, the start of reconstruction efforts, and the establishment of a transitional governing body in the Gaza Strip.
