JAKARTA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday inaugurated 1,151 km of regional roads across 37 provinces, in a ceremony held in Sampang Regency, East Java province.

Prabowo said regional roads are the lifeline of the people's economy, helping move farm, plantation, and fishery products from villages to markets, distribution centers, and industrial areas.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said the project, carried out under a 2025 presidential instruction on regional roads, is designed to improve supply chains by connecting production areas with consumption centers.

Dody said the road construction and improvement program is supported by a state budget allocation of 5.41 trillion rupiah (about 302 million U.S. dollars) and has been fully completed.

He added that the program is aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, supporting economic growth, and promoting more equitable development across Indonesia.
