BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China addded two group event titles while Russia collected four individual competitions gold medals as the two teams split eight golds on offer at the 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup on Sunday.

China had notched two golds on Saturday from the individual and group all-round events in the three-day competition.

China, composed of Ding Xinyi, Wang Lanjing, Zhang Xinyi, Pu Yanzhu, Zhao Wanzhu and Liu Miaoting, scored 26.20 points to win the five balls event, finishing 2.50 points ahead of Russia, while Uzbekistan took bronze.

The hosts also claimed gold in the three hoops and two clubs event with 26.90 points. Belarus earned silver and Russia took bronze.

"We focused on improving our own performance, particularly in the degree of completion. We still need to learn from the European powerhouses," Wang Lanjing said.

"Our goal this year is to earn a ticket to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games."

Russia dominated the individual apparatus finals, with Sofiia Ilteriakova winning gold in the ball, ribbon and clubs events.

Her compatriot Arina Kovshova captured the hoop title.

China's 15-year-old Wang Qi finished with four silver medals across the individual events.

"The home audience supported us a lot and gave me a lot of confidence," Wang said. "High-level competitions helped me accumulate experience for development in the long run."
