COLOMBO, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved measures to obtain 300 million U.S. dollars from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for post-cyclone recovery and trade, investment and industrial development, the Department of Government Information said in a statement on Tuesday.

Of the total, 200 million dollars will support the Post Ditwah Cyclone Renovation and Livelihood Assistance Project, which aims to restore highways, irrigation systems, livelihoods and housing damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, the department said.

According to the statement, Cyclone Ditwah, which struck Sri Lanka in November 2025, caused significant damage, and recovery needs have been estimated at about 3.5 billion dollars.

The cabinet also approved measures to obtain 100 million dollars from the ADB under policy-based loan facilities for the Trade, Investment and Industries Development Program.

The department said the ADB had agreed to provide this amid economic uncertainty linked to the current Middle East crisis and climate-related disasters.

The proposals were presented by the president in his capacity as minister of finance, planning and economic development, the statement said.
