BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing will pay a state visit to China from June 15 to 19.
Min Aung Hlaing was born on July 3, 1956 in Dawei, Tanintharyi region, Myanmar. He graduated from the Defence Services Academy of Myanmar in 1977 with a Bachelor of Laws degree.
He became the joint chief of staff of the Myanmar Armed Forces in 2010 and commander-in-chief of the Defence Services in 2011.
In February 2021, he assumed the position of chairman of the State Administration Council and commander-in-chief of the Defence Services. In August of the same year, he additionally took on the role of prime minister. In August 2025, he became the acting president and commander-in-chief of the Defence Services.
He was inaugurated as president of Myanmar on April 10, 2026.
He is married and has one son and one daughter. ■
