BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and South African militaries had reached a consensus on continuously deepening all-round substantive cooperation, a Chinese defense ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The consensus was made by China's Minister of National Defense Dong Jun and South Africa's minister of defense and military veterans during Dong's visit to South Africa upon invitation, Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks at a press conference.
The defining nature of China-South Africa relationship is "comrades plus brothers," Zhang said.
Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of states, the two militaries will strengthen strategic communication, refine cooperation mechanisms, promote exchanges in specialized areas, and deepen education and training cooperation, setting an example for military cooperation among Global South countries, he added. ■
