BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 jolted the South Sandwich Islands region at 2301 GMT on Wednesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 119.9 km, was initially determined to be at 56.11 degrees south latitude and 27.97 degrees west longitude. ■
