MINSK, May 17 (Xinhua) -- BATE Borisov claimed a record-extending sixth Belarusian Cup, defeating Dinamo Minsk 8-7 in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in the final at the National Football Stadium in Minsk on Saturday.
Dinamo Minsk opened the scoring through Artem Sokolovsky in the 28th minute, but BATE equalized through Kirill Apanasevich after the hour mark.
Neither side could find a winner during regular or extra time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout, in which BATE converted all eight of its penalties, while Dinamo Minsk missed one to hand BATE the title.
The triumph added to BATE's previous Cup victories in 2006, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2021. ■
