HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The southern Vietnam regional final of the 25th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students concluded here on Friday.
The event was jointly organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China's Ministry of Education and the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and hosted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
During the competition, 37 students from 19 universities and colleges across the region competed in three segments, including a Chinese knowledge quiz, a themed speech, and a talent show.
Tham My Phuong from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education won the championship and will represent southern Vietnam at the final competition to be held in China.
Bui Tran Quynh Ngoc, vice president of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said the "Chinese Bridge" competition helps cultivate a new generation of university students who possess not only strong professional competence and excellent foreign language skills, but also the ability to connect with others, share experiences, and actively contribute to the international community.
Xu Zhou, Chinese deputy consul general in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the "Chinese Bridge" serves not only as a bridge of language and communication, but also as a bridge of opportunities leading to the future.
He noted that young students are both witnesses and participants in the advancement of China-Vietnam relations in the new era, expressing hope that they will further deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields in their future careers. ■
