KABUL, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's National Standards Authority has signed a contract worth more than 46 million U.S. dollars with a private company to build and equip advanced laboratory complexes in Kabul and nine border ports, local media outlet TOLOnews reported on Wednesday.
The project is aimed at enhancing quality control and standardization services for imported and exported goods across the country, according to the report.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar attended the signing ceremony and described the initiative as an important step toward strengthening Afghanistan's trade infrastructure and quality assurance system.
Officials said the new laboratory complexes would help facilitate trade, improve inspection services, and support the country's economic development through modern testing facilities at key border crossings and commercial centers. ■
