ACCRA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz on Wednesday named a 23-man squad for his first match in charge, a friendly against World Cup co-host Mexico later this month.
The squad, released by the Ghana Football Association, blends Europe-based players, emerging talents and experienced figures, with an emphasis on continuity and development. It includes six home-based players from the Ghana Premier League.
Queiroz, who replaced Otto Addo last month, is expected to use the match to assess squad depth and identify options ahead of future competitive fixtures.
Ghana faces Mexico on May 22 before taking on Wales on June 2 as part of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L for the tournament, alongside England, Croatia and Panama. ■
