COLOMBO, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved a proposal to recognize the National Export Development Plan 2026-2030 as the country's official strategic framework for export development and promotion, the Department of Government Information said in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement said the Sri Lanka Export Development Board has been developing the plan with public and private sector stakeholders connected to the export sector, with technical assistance under the Asian Development Bank's policy-based loan program.

The plan will provide a broad strategic framework to guide and monitor Sri Lanka's export development process, with the aim of earning 36 billion U.S. dollars from goods and services exports by 2030, it said.

The preparation of the plan was originally proposed in the 2025 budget as a national priority to improve export competitiveness and support export-led sustainable economic growth, the statement said.
