SAN FRANCISCO, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, on Wednesday reported its first-quarter revenue at 109.9 billion U.S. dollars, up 22 percent from the same period last year.

The company said its net income was 62.58 billion dollars, or 5.11 dollars of earnings per diluted share, compared with 34.54 billion dollars, or 2.81 dollars of earnings per diluted share, in the same period of 2025.

The quarterly financial report showed that Google Cloud revenue grew to 20.03 billion dollars from 12.26 billion dollars in the same period of 2025, led by an increase in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) across enterprise AI solutions and enterprise AI infrastructure, as well as core GCP services.

Dividend payments totaled 2.54 billion dollars for the first three months.

"2026 is off to a terrific start. Our AI investments and full stack approach are lighting up every part of the business," said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google.

Pichai said Google Search had a strong quarter, with AI experiences driving usage and queries at an all-time high, while Google Cloud revenues grew 63 percent, with backlog nearly doubling quarter on quarter to over 460 billion dollars.

The company said its number of employees stood at 194,668 as of March 31, compared with 185,719 a year earlier.
