ISTANBUL, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's tourism revenue rose 4.2 percent year on year to 9.9 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of 2026, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said on Thursday.

At a press conference in Istanbul, Ersoy stated that the increase reflected Türkiye's strong crisis management capacity, despite global uncertainties affecting the tourism sector.

He added that geopolitical tensions and seasonal factors caused fluctuations in visitor numbers, but overall growth was sustained.

Data showed that total visitors in the first three months rose from 8.84 million to 9.22 million, marking a 4.2 percent increase.

Germany ranked first with 678,000 visitors, followed by Russia with 651,000, Bulgaria with 539,000, and Iran with 527,000.

Ersoy also said that the average nightly spending of foreign visitors rose 2.2 percent to 119 dollars in the first quarter, up from 116 dollars a year earlier.
