KIEV, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that he has instructed his representatives to contact U.S. President Donald Trump's team and clarify the details of Russia's proposal for a short-term ceasefire.
"We will clarify what exactly this is about -- a few hours of security for a parade in Moscow, or something more," Zelensky posted on X.
He added that Ukraine, for its part, is proposing a long-term ceasefire, reliable and guaranteed security, and lasting peace.
According to the Ukrinform news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country was ready to declare a ceasefire on May 9, the day Russia celebrates Victory Day, during a recent phone call with Trump. ■
