JAKARTA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday launched the groundbreaking ceremony for 13 second-phase downstreaming projects across the country, with the main event held in Cilacap, Central Java.
The projects, with a total investment of 116 trillion rupiah (around 6.7 billion U.S. dollars), include five in the energy sector, five in minerals, and three in agriculture, Prabowo said at the ceremony.
He stressed that downstreaming is a key strategy to drive industrialization and domestic economic growth while reducing reliance on raw material exports.
The government also plans to add at least six more downstreaming projects this year, with more phases expected to follow. ■
