BUJUMBURA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye has appointed three new ministers in a partial cabinet reshuffle, the president's spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.

Egide Nijimbere has been named minister of infrastructure, social housing, transport and equipment, according to Rosine Guilene Gatoni, the president's spokesperson. He replaces Damien Niyonkuru, who had held the position since Jan. 23.

Evelyne Butoyi has been appointed minister of communication and media. Formerly Burundi's ambassador to Zambia, she succeeds Gabby Bugaga, who died in a road traffic accident on April 16, on the outskirts of northwestern Bujumbura, the government said.

Fidele Nkezabahizi has been appointed minister of public health. He previously served as director in charge of the National Integrated Food and Nutrition Program within the health ministry. He replaces Lydwine Baradahana, who had been serving as health minister since 2023.
