HANOI, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Foreign passengers and overseas Vietnamese using visas entering Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City are required to complete an electronic declaration prior to immigration procedures from April 15, facilitating a faster clearance process, the Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.
The Vietnam Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security said the move is part of efforts to modernize immigration management and enhance service quality, replacing manual processing with a digital system that allows authorities to obtain passenger data in advance, according to the report.
Passengers are advised to complete the declaration via mobile devices or computers, providing personal details, flight information and purpose of entry. Upon submission, a QR code is issued and must be presented at immigration counters for clearance.
Vietnamese citizens traveling on Vietnamese passports and transit passengers who do not enter the country are exempt from the requirement, the report added. ■
