BEIRUT, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon and Russia signed an agreement on Wednesday exempting holders of diplomatic and special passports from entry visa requirements, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

The agreement was signed at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Beirut by Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov and Abdel Sattar Issa, secretary-general of Lebanon's Foreign Ministry.

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

According to the ministry, the agreement will enter into force 60 days after the exchange of ratification notifications by the competent authorities in both countries. It will remain valid for five years and be automatically renewed unless either party temporarily suspends it due to internal circumstances.
