KABUL, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Personnel of national army have recovered more than 230 pieces of mortar mines in western Afghanistan's Badghis province, said an army statement stationed in the western region of the country on Tuesday.
The weaponry, which included 233 stocks of mortar mines, a hand grenade, bullets and projectiles were discovered from Ghormach district, the statement said, adding that the personnel of the army are going to defuse all the explosive devices.
Countless military equipment including unexploded ordnances have been left over from more than four decades of wars and foreign invasions in Afghanistan, often posing potential threats to the people and sometimes claim the lives of civilians, mostly children in the post-war nation. ■
