CAIRO, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Italy capped a dominant campaign at the FIE Foil World Cup in Cairo on Sunday by winning both the men's and women's team titles, finishing on top of the medal tally with three golds and one silver.

In the men's team event, Italy defeated Hong Kong, China 45-43 in the final to take gold, while the United States claimed bronze after beating Spain 45-34 in the third-place match.

Italy also won the women's team title after defeating France 45-40 in the final, with the United States taking bronze by overcoming Japan 42-38.

Italy's men's team included Guillaume Bianchi, Giulio Lombardi, Filippo Macchi and Tommaso Marini, while the women's squad featured Martina Favaretto, Martina Batini, Arianna Errigo and Anna Cristino.

The strong finish came a day after Italy secured a one-two finish in the women's individual event, where Favaretto won gold and her compatriot Batini took silver. Poland's Marta Jakubowska and Japan's Sera Azuma shared bronze in Saturday's women's competition.

On Saturday, Japan's Iimura Kazuki claimed the men's individual gold after defeating Czech fencer Alexander Choupenitch, while France's Anas Anane and American Nick Itkin shared bronze.

With Sunday's results, Italy topped the overall medal standings with three golds and one silver, ahead of Japan, which finished second with one gold and one bronze. France placed third with one silver and one bronze.

The four-day tournament, held at the indoor halls complex of Cairo International Stadium from April 16 to 19, brought together about 220 male and 170 female fencers from around the world, according to the Egyptian Fencing Federation.
