LOME, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the Lome-based pan-African banking group, reported a pre-tax profit of 801 million U.S. dollars for the 2025 financial year, up 21 percent year on year, according to results released on Friday by the group.

Net revenue rose 17 percent to 2.45 billion dollars, marking the bank's strongest performance in more than a decade, ETI said.

The group's cost-to-income ratio improved to 48.3 percent from 52.8 percent a year earlier, falling below the 50 percent threshold for the first time. The development indicates a structural shift, with revenue growth now outpacing cost increases at the consolidated group level.

Customer deposits increased by 4.9 billion dollars to reach 25.3 billion dollars, while net loans and advances stood at 12.8 billion dollars.

By business segment, Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) posted a pre-tax profit of 697 million dollars, up 40 percent, driven by trade finance and capital markets activities. Consumer and Commercial Banking (CCB) contributed 480 million dollars, representing a 27 percent increase.

On dividends, the board of directors recommended a payout of 40 million dollars for 2025. This marks the third dividend distribution in a decade and follows two consecutive years without shareholder returns. The payout ratio remains below 7 percent of pre-tax profit.
