KABUL, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghan government has delivered 530 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza through Egypt's Rafah crossing, the foreign ministry in Kabul reported on Wednesday.
The assistance, was procured and prepared by a delegation sent to Egypt and transported into Gaza in 42 trucks, Hafiz Zia Ahmad, deputy spokesman for the ministry, posted on his social media account.
The shipment, consisting of food supplies, clothing and other essential goods, is valued at nearly 500,000 U.S. dollars and is intended to reach around 22,000 families, Ahmad added.
The ministry called on influential parties to make serious efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. It also reiterated the Afghan government's longstanding position that the Palestinian issue should be resolved in line with historical realities and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. ■
