ANKARA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) on Thursday called for permanent peace between Iran and the United States, saying that temporary ceasefires "do not solve problems."
"What is important is that peace is permanent. We are calling for peace to prevent further loss of life," AK Party spokesperson Omer Celik said in a press conference following a meeting of the party's Central Decision-Making and Management Board.
"The attack on Iran affected global peace. What is important here is that a framework for peace emerges along with the ceasefire," Celik said.
The spokesperson slammed Israel for undermining regional stability. Celik also slammed the United States for its "unilateral" approach, saying that the U.S. aims "to give Iran unilateral instructions."
A two-week ceasefire was announced early Wednesday by the United States and Iran. ■
