KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said Wednesday that it is intensifying efforts to support Malaysian exporters in navigating challenges arising from the ongoing Middle East crisis.
MATRADE remains committed to ensuring exporters are well-informed, agile and prepared as geopolitical tensions continue to reshape global trade routes, increase logistics costs and shift market dynamics, the agency said in a statement after a webinar on the Middle East crisis.
MATRADE chief executive officer Abu Bakar Yusof said the agency is working closely with its overseas network and industry players to ensure businesses remain informed and resilient.
Meanwhile, panelists in the webinar urged exporters to adopt proactive and adaptive strategies, including diversifying into new markets, adjusting shipment terms, strengthening buyer verification, and leveraging digitalization and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency.
Despite rising logistics costs, the situation remains manageable, with new trade routes and partnerships emerging, said MATRADE, adding that Malaysia is well-positioned to strengthen its role as a reliable and strategic supplier in global markets. ■
