JAKARTA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday inaugurated an electric bus and truck in Magelang, Central Java Province.
During the ceremony, Prabowo expressed hope that Indonesia will begin mass production of electric sedans by 2028, as the government intensifies efforts to build a domestic electric vehicle industry.
The assembly operation involves local manufacturers, underscoring efforts to build a domestic EV supply chain, local media reported.
The Indonesian government has begun phasing out fossil fuel-based official vehicles while promoting the adoption of electric public transportation, including buses, as part of its energy transition strategy. ■
