BOGOTA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Colombian Navy said Thursday it has destroyed 30 clandestine labs used to process coca base paste during anti-drug operations in the country's southwest.
The operations were carried out in the rural areas of the Narino and Cauca regions, where the illegal secret labs were dismantled in a controlled manner, according to the navy.
Authorities seized 5,573 gallons of liquid materials and 921 kilograms of solid materials used to produce illicit substances.
The navy said the labs were run by dissidents of the disbanded Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, adding that the blow meant an economic loss of over 1.4 billion Colombian pesos (approximately 380,000 U.S. dollars). ■
