TUNIS, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia repatriated 97 Guinean nationals on Tuesday in the fourth charter flight this year, local media reported Wednesday.
Supported by the International Organization for Migration, the repatriation was carried out under its Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program, which aims to facilitate "dignified, safe, regular and orderly" returns.
The repatriation comes amid stepped-up efforts by international organizations and regional partners to address the challenges of illegal immigration in the Mediterranean region.
Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti said on March 11 that a total of 1,262 migrants have been repatriated since the start of 2026, adding that the government aims to return 10,000 migrants by the end of the year. ■
