YAOUNDE, March 25 (Xinhua) -- The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) on Wednesday signed a partnership agreement with the country's Ministry of Basic Education to implement FIFA's Football for Schools (F4S) initiative in the central African nation.
The agreement marked the launch of the initiative, which uses fun football sessions to teach children life and academic skills.
More than 100 children took part in the launch in Yaounde, experiencing the joy of the game while developing important values.
FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o said F4S "will permit children to dream and help them achieve life's goals."
"This project needs to permit us to have new football talents in a short period of time. Football will become to us an academy. Boys and girls must get involved. This shows that education in Cameroon is inclusive," said Minister of Basic Education Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa.
First launched in 2019 by FIFA, F4S aims to make football more accessible to children worldwide and uses the sport to support education, development and social inclusion. ■
