JAKARTA, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A Bengal tiger cub has died at Bandung Zoo in Indonesia's West Java province, with authorities launching an investigation to determine the cause of death, officials said on Wednesday.
The cub, named Hara, was confirmed dead by the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA), which said the exact cause remains under examination by veterinarians.
"Yes, it has died, but we have not yet obtained the complete results, pending the veterinarian's examination," BBKSDA West Java spokesperson Eri Mildranaya said, as quoted by local media.
Hara was born on July 12, 2025, along with its sibling, Huru, adding to the Bengal tiger population at Bandung Zoo.
Authorities said a necropsy has been conducted and further analysis is underway to determine the precise cause of death. BBKSDA West Java said the full results would be released once the veterinary assessment is finalized. ■
