HANOI, March 24 (Xinhua) -- A mother and her child were killed in a fire at a vegetarian eatery in southern Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City on Monday night, the Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
The victims were asleep when the fire engulfed the house.
A neighboring resident said the house was closed at the time of the incident, with many tables, chairs and glass cabinets placed in front of the entrance, hindering access to the interior, local daily VnExpress reported.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. ■
