KATHMANDU, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Nepal reported year-on-year growth in foreign trade in the first eight months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year with increases in both exports and imports, the Department of Customs said on Sunday.
Total trade increased by 13.55 percent to 1.48 trillion Nepali rupees (9.91 billion U.S. dollars) between mid-July 2025 and mid-March 2026, up from 1.30 trillion rupees during the same period in the previous fiscal year, according to the report.
Exports grew by 20.83 percent to 191.11 billion rupees in the period, compared to 158.17 billion rupees in the previous fiscal year.
Similarly, imports rose year-on-year by 12.54 percent to 1.28 trillion rupees, up from 1.14 trillion rupees. (1 Nepali rupee equals 0.0067 U.S. dollars) ■
