NEW DELHI, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on regional developments, local media reported.

In a post on social media platform X, Modi wrote that he spoke to Pezeshkian and conveyed Eid al-Fitr and Nowruz greetings. The two leaders expressed hope that this festive season brings peace, stability and prosperity to West Asia.

During their conversation, Modi reiterated the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and ensuring that shipping lanes remain open and secure. He also appreciated Iran's continued support for the safety and security of Indian nationals in Iran.

The prime minister also condemned attacks on critical infrastructure in the region, which threaten regional stability and disrupt global supply chains, according to the post.
