From April last year to February this year of the current fiscal year, the country earned about 500 million U.S. dollars from rubber exports, an official from the association said.
The majority of rubber exports went to China, he said, adding that other export destinations include Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and South Korea.
Rubber is grown on over 1.6 million acres nationwide. Mon state is the country's main rubber-producing area, followed by the Tanintharyi region and Kayin state, the official said. ■
