ISLAMABAD, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's information and communications technology (ICT) export remittances surged 19.7 percent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, official data showed.

According to figures shared by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication on Monday, ICT export remittances reached 2.97 billion U.S. dollars during July-February of fiscal year 2025-26, up from 2.48 billion dollars recorded in the same period last year.

In February alone, exports stood at 365 million dollars, marking a 19.3 percent year-on-year increase, the data showed.

The sector also posted a trade surplus of 2.55 billion dollars during the period, accounting for 86 percent of total ICT export remittances, highlighting its position as the top-performing segment within Pakistan's services sector.

The ministry noted that the strong performance highlights the growing importance of the ICT sector in Pakistan's economic landscape.
