KABUL, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized 127 kg of methamphetamine, or ice, in western Afghanistan's Nimroz province, the office of Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics said in a statement on Monday.
The drugs were discovered during targeted operations in Khashrod district, said the statement, adding that one suspect was arrested in connection with the case and his dossier has been referred to the judiciary for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate but related crackdown on illicit narcotics activity, security personnel apprehended 11 individuals across various districts in neighboring Herat province. Those detained are allegedly involved in the production, trafficking, and distribution of illegal drugs, the ministry stated.
The Afghan government has reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts against the cultivation, production, and trafficking of illicit drugs across the country. ■
