SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Bolivia manager Oscar Villegas said Sunday his team would enter the FIFA World Cup playoffs in Mexico in an upbeat mood after a 3-0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago.
Luis Haquin and Juan Godoy struck in the first half before Fernando Nava added a third goal after halftime as La Verde cruised to victory in its final warmup match before the playoffs.
"It was a good chance for us to put some ideas into practice," Bolivia manager Oscar Villegas said after the match in Santa Cruz.
"We're heading there feeling good and calm. We feel good about it. We believe we're going to have a great playoff and hopefully we'll be able to reach the World Cup."
The South American team is vying for its first appearance in the tournament since 1994 after finishing seventh in the CONMEBOL qualifying group.
Bolivia's first playoff match will be against Suriname in Monterrey on March 26, with the winner to face Iraq five days later.
"Suriname is a very physical team with some quality players, so we can't be complacent," Villegas added. ■
