ALGIERS, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and 55 others injured early Sunday in four separate road accidents in northern Algeria amid bad weather, the Algerian Civil Protection Department said.
The deadliest accident occurred in the Merdoud area of M'sila province, about 240 km southeast of Algiers, where a semi-trailer collided with a passenger bus, leaving five people dead and 38 others injured.
In a separate accident, a collision between a bus and a car killed one person and injured another in the northeastern province of Annaba.
The other two accidents this morning each injured eight people, including one in critical condition.
Algeria records up to 4,000 fatalities due to traffic accidents each year, according to official statistics. ■
