KATHMANDU, March 12 (Xinhua) -- A Nepali citizen has died and 15 others have been injured so far during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
Ram Kaji Khadka, joint secretary at the ministry, said that the 15 Nepalis sustained minor injuries due to missile and drone attacks.
On March 1, the Nepali government confirmed the death of a Nepali youth in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a drone interception operation carried out by the UAE at Zayed International Airport.
The UAE hosts the largest number of Nepali nationals among the Gulf countries, at around 700,000, the ministry said.
The Nepali government has also launched an online rescue-tracking system to gather up-to-date information on Nepali nationals affected by the ongoing conflict in the region.
Although the conflict is continuing in the region, the ministry said there was no immediate need to conduct a rescue operation for Nepali citizens there. ■
