WINDHOEK, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The African Development Bank (AfDB) will support Namibia through a range of financing and investment initiatives under its Country Strategy Paper for 2025-2030 launched on Wednesday.

According to the strategy, the bank plans to provide support through sovereign loans and grants, private sector financing, technical assistance and policy support, as well as by facilitating public-private partnerships and regional infrastructure projects.

The initiatives are aligned with Namibia's long-term development frameworks, including Namibia Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan, which aim to transform the country into a diversified and industrialized economy.

The AfDB said its strategy will focus on unlocking opportunities in key sectors, such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, agriculture value chains, logistics, and digital infrastructure.

The bank also highlighted opportunities in critical minerals, agriculture modernization, and regional trade, which are expected to support economic transformation and job creation.

In addition, the strategy emphasizes investments in transport, water, and climate-resilient infrastructure, particularly as Namibia faces recurring droughts and water scarcity linked to climate change.

The development bank said the planned interventions will also promote regional integration by supporting cross-border infrastructure projects and trade corridors in southern Africa.
