BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States should commit to a spirit of mutual respect, hold the bottom line of peaceful coexistence, and strive for the prospect of win-win cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the ongoing session of the national legislature.
"This year is indeed a 'big year' for China-U.S. relations," Wang said. "The agenda of high-level exchanges is already on the table. What the two sides need to do now is to create a suitable environment, manage the differences that do exist, and remove unnecessary disruptions."
When treating each other with sincerity and good faith, the two sides will be able to produce results that are satisfactory to both peoples, and achieve a consensus that is welcomed by the whole world, he said.
"The year 2026 can be a landmark year of sound, steady and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations," Wang added. ■
